Yield for Bluelights

Help Your Volunteer Firefighters

Yield for Bluelights!

Two blue rectangular shapes with white centers are side by side. The one on the left has a textured, spiky blue burst extending from its center, while the one on the right has smooth blue gradients within its white center.

If you see a FLASHING BLUE LIGHT approaching you, please pull over and stop immediately and safely.

It will only take a few seconds—but in an emergency seconds count

Someone in the car with the flashing BLUE LIGHT is a volunteer firefighter responding to an emergency

BLUE LIGHTS are a courtesy light only. They do not give the volunteer any special privileges on the road.

A vehicle with the flashing BLUE LIGHTS must obey all vehicle and traffic laws at all times unless otherwise directed by a POLICE OFFICER!

The flashing BLUE LIGHTS alert other drivers on the road that we are responding to an EMERGENCY.

It’s up to other drivers to pull over, stop, and let us go past your vehicle in a safe manner. Your actions could allow the firefighter the extra time to save a life or stop a fire before it’s out of control ! By letting the firefighter pass, you become an important part of the lifesaving team.

Please practice BLUE LIGHT COURTESY

Silhouettes of police officers stand beside patrol cars with flashing red and blue lights in a dark, hazy environment. The image is blurred, emphasizing the lights over the specific details of the scene.
RED and WHITE LIGHTS and Sirens are used by FIRE TRUCKS, FIRE CHIEFS, AMBULANCES, MEDICS and POLICE VEHICLES. When these vehicles approach you with flashing lights and sirens, you must pull over and stop immediately and safely. The VEHICLE and TRAFFIC LAW states that you have to yield the RIGHT OF WAY to them.
